Electrical jobs start with a clear description
An extra socket by the sofa and a whole-house rewire need very different quotations. Trusted Electricians helps you describe the work and reach local businesses that handle it. Homeowners and landlords can enquire about domestic electrical work across the UK, from a single light fitting to circuits for a home charger.
Trusted Electricians is a matching service for independent businesses. One free online enquiry can help you receive up to four quotations from local electricians, depending on coverage, the work requested and availability. Four quotations are not guaranteed, and there is no obligation to accept one.

Give electricians the details that affect the job
Start with your postcode, the property type and the rooms involved. For new fittings, count the points and say where you want them. For faults, describe what happens and when, without opening anything to investigate. For a rewire or charger, explain access, parking and whether the house will be occupied.
You do not need to know a circuit’s technical specification before enquiring. An electrician may need photographs, a site visit or testing before offering a fixed price. Pictures should show closed fittings or accessible labels; leave electrical covers in place.
Compare the scope as well as the total
A quote for fitting a customer-supplied pendant is different from one that includes a new cable route, a dimmer and patch plastering. For larger jobs, look for a point schedule, named equipment, agreed finishes and a clear plan for power interruptions. Confirm VAT, testing, paperwork and any exclusions in writing.
Companies joining the network are asked to provide relevant insurance details and references. Before booking, check current insurance, relevant experience and registration for the work yourself. Electrical Safety First’s electrician register can help you check a business’s listed scope. A listing or introduction does not replace agreeing a written specification with your chosen electrician.
Paperwork depends on the work
An EICR assesses existing wiring. An Electrical Installation Certificate records new installation work; a Minor Works certificate can cover suitable alterations to an existing circuit. Building Regulations compliance records have a different purpose. Ask which documents your particular project needs, rather than simply asking for an “electrical certificate”.
Ask who will inspect and test the work, which electrical certificate is included and who handles any building-control notification. Approved Document P for England explains England’s notification rules. Wales has its own Part P guidance; Scotland and Northern Ireland have different building standards arrangements. The job and its location determine the route, so agree it before work begins.
If something seems unsafe
If you notice scorching, a burning smell, electric shocks or exposed wiring, keep away from the affected equipment and seek urgent professional help. Do not remove covers or repeatedly reset a tripping circuit. This quote form is for enquiries and is not an emergency response service.
Tell us what needs doing
Use the free enquiry form to describe your socket list, inspection or larger project. Independent electricians may then contact you to discuss the work. We introduce businesses; your chosen electrician supplies the quotation and carries out the job under your agreement with them.
